Everyday protection
Brings out depth and warmth of the wood without a plastic coating
Application Instructions
Prep
Sand the wood smooth to 150–300 grit. The finish will highlight your work but will not hide scratches.
Test on a scrap piece of the same wood before applying to your project.
Wear nitrile or latex gloves and safety glasses for protection.
For best results, apply between 55–80 °F. If the wax oil feels too thick in cooler conditions, gently warm the sealed container in a water bath (below 100 °F). In hot weather, if it becomes runny, a brief stay in the refrigerator can bring it back to the right consistency.
Application
Stirring may be necessary if product has settled.
Method 1
Apply a thin layer of wax oil blend with a craft stick, plastic spreader, or spoon.
Work it into the grain using a non-woven abrasive pad (equivalent of “00” or finer).
Avoid puddles or clumps. If needed, wipe away excess with a clean cotton rag.
Method 2
Use clean cotton rag to apply and rub product into grain.
Wipe with grain to smooth out and maintain thin layer.
Buffing
Allow the finish to set for 15 minutes to 2 hours (no more than 10 hours). The longer it sets, the harder it will be to buff.
Buff all treated surfaces with a clean cotton cloth until no residue remains. If the cloth becomes saturated, switch to a fresh one.
The surface should feel smooth and dry when complete. If any areas feel tacky, continue buffing.
Curing
Projects can be handled soon after buffing, but allow at least 24 hours before use.
Apply additional coats after 24 hours if desired. Most projects need 1–2 coats; high-use items may benefit from more.
For pieces that will see heavy handling, follow with 1–2 coats of Wax for easy future touch-ups.
Maintenance
Reapply as needed - typically every 6 months to 3 years, depending on use.
If the surface looks dry or dull, refresh with another coat.
Storage & Safety
Store in a cool, dry place with the lid sealed. Avoid direct sunlight. Bloxygen can help keep the product fresh (follow directions on their can).
Dispose of according to local regulations for solvents (similar to acetone, mineral spirits, or citrus cleaners).
Place used rags in an airtight, fireproof container until dry. Never leave oily rags wadded up in open air.
Safety & Cautions
Your health and safety matter as much as the quality of your work. While this wax oil blend is made without harsh heavy-metal driers, it should never be ingested. Think of it like any other finishing product - protect yourself and use it with care.
Always work in a well-ventilated area, wear nitrile or latex gloves and safety glasses, and avoid prolonged skin contact. Keep the container out of reach of children and pets, and do not use this product on toys or surfaces that may be chewed or mouthed.
Our products use a variety of oils, waxes, and citrus based solvents. Everyone’s skin reacts differently-discontinue use if irritation occurs.
When you’re finished, remember that oily rags can self-ignite. Lay them flat to dry outdoors away from other flammable items or store in a sealed, fire-safe container until completely dry before disposal.
